The Power of the Purse luncheon is the premiere charitable bi-annual event of the Women’s Fund of the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation.
“As the purse is emptied, the heart is filled.” – Victor Hugo
Since its first debut 11 years ago, the luncheon has gone from raising $17,000 in 2001 to over $120,000 at the most recent Power of the Purse in 2012. Designed to educate the community on the issues of women and girls in Winnebago County, the Power of the Purse luncheon focuses on the calls-to-action, the remedies and the results that the Women’s Fund strives for.
This signature bi-annual event attracts professional women, community leaders, active philanthropists, aspiring young women and a growing number of men from the community who see that participating in the luncheon is a way to support the Women’s Fund.
As Oshkosh’s 2010 Charity Event of the Year, the Power of the Purse luncheon continues to grow and bring in famous keynote speakers such as Erin Brockovich to Leigh Ann Touhy. These keynote speakers share stories about the importance of giving and the gratitude of receiving.
The Women’s Fund of the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation works hard every two years to put on an even better Power of the Purse luncheon than the last. With an incredible amount of support from our community, the Power of the Purse luncheon draws more attention and funds more initiatives designed to improve the lives of women of all ages in Winnebago County.
